Pixeljima™ 1942 is a retro, pixelart, vertical scrolling, shooter game designed for tablet and mobile. Its name is a portmanteau of 'Pixelart' and 'Iwo Jima'. Iwo Jima is famous as the site of 'The Battle of Iwo Jima' in the pacific theater of World War II.
History
Started as a quick game to be made in a week, the project evolved to include a banner system as described by the makers of Crossy Road, a meta-game around collecting aircraft to fly, and upgrading and ranking up in owned aircraft.
The banner system had been missing from an earlier Redfox puzzle game and would be useful for future titles. It was decided not to release a lite version of the game and instead complete the meta-game mechanics before launch.
